SunQuest / SunVision / SunStar Wolff

SunQuest, or SunQuest Wolff, is a brand of tanning bed sold by ETS, LCC. The same is true for their models under the names SunVision and SunStar. It was originally owned by ETS, Inc., and was built by Spectrum in Indianapolis, IN using imported parts that were actually manufactured by Alisun of Germany. In the 1980s-1990s, they were likely one of the best selling brand of home tanning beds in the United States.

They became synonymous with the term Wolff, although they are not the same company at all. They pay a royalty to Wolff Systems for the right to use the name, as did many other companies, such as Montego Bay, SonneneBruane, and others. They have Wolff System put ETS's trademarked names on Wolff lamps, such as Diamond Sun S, Velocity, Accelerator and others.

Generally, the SunQuest tanning beds tend to be their lower line, followed by SunVision and SunStar, which tend to be bigger units.

All SunQuest tanning beds use lamps in size F71 for full size lamps. Beds that have high pressure face tanning also use size F59 in front of the face tanning plate itself. Typically this means a 24 lamp SunQuest with face tanning uses six F59 and eighteen F71 lamp, although there may be some years that use a combination of 4 and 20 instead.

The most popular models of SunQuest beds are the Pro 16, Pro 24 and Pro 28. These models will typically have other letters after the name to signify other features. For example, the Pro24RS is a residential tanning bed, and the Pro24RF has a single high pressure face tanning bulb.

Most of the SunQuest and SunVision tanning beds came with the Diamond Sun S tanning lamp (shown on lamp as DSS71T12 and DSS59T12). Because the manufacturer charges up to $22 per lamp for replacements, most people use a different lamp when it comes time to change the tanning bulbs. High quality, legally compatible replacement lamps can be purchased for less than half of this amount, saving the customer over $250 when they change their lamps, without sacrificing quality.

The beds that came with one or more face tanning bulbs used a standard, clip-in, 400 watt high pressure face tanning bulbs. After market versions of these lamps can be purchased below the manufacturer's regular price, and typically around $20. Some tanning bulb sellers offer complete kits for these beds that include the right number of F71, F59 and face tanning bulbs, all in one convenient package.
