SunMaster

SunMaster is owned by UVA SunSystems, Inc., who started business in 1985. SunMaster used to be owned by Mathews Industries, Inc., who also owned Montego Bay, but the SunMaster division was sold to UVA SunSystems in the mid-1990s, at the same time they sold Montego Bay to PC Marketing.

SunMaster makes a line of beds that ranges from 24 to 40 lamps (they discontinued making 16 lamp beds around 2007). Much of their manufacturing is specifically for home tanning beds. They pioneered high efficiency electronics for use in home tanning beds, and created the first 18, 24 and 32 lamp beds that plug into the wall.

All their tanning beds have pedestal type legs and full body coolers, and they are known for building higher quality (and somewhat higher priced) tanning beds. They are the only builder that gives customers a 30 day money back guarantee.

With the exception of the 2000 SM32M tanning bed, all their tanning beds use F71 tanning lamps. Over the years, they have used a variety of lamps, including the "SunMaster" (a 4.2%UVB lamp built by Voltarc), SunMaster Plus (a 5% UVB that was actually only used by Montego Bay for their Legacy beds), Brilliance, and finally, they developed their own lamps by the early 2000s.

They licence Sol Glass from LTI of Hungary, and incorporate it in their premium line of ClearTech tanning lamps. This is a new lamp technology that uses a special glass that is more transparent to UV than older glass, plus a new phosphor mix that is more environmentally friendly. The lamps also last about twice as long as a regular lamp. Due to the new phosphors used, they lamps actually burn a green color.

They contract a variety of companies, including Philips and Light Sources, to produce their lamps. Models include the Custom Bronzer, Custom Plus, Wildcat, Pro Bronzer, Pro Plus, Pro Reflector, Reflex Bronzer, Power Bronzer, and others. Lamps that use ClearTech technology include the ClearTech 20, 120R, 220, 220R and 160R and others.

They also produce several lines of tanning lotion, such as Revenge, Tequila SunRise, Mango Bay, Blue Moon and others. They also build the Virtual Sun line of tanning beds. All SunMaster beds are built in the USA.
