Plus Bulbs

There isn't an exact definition for PLUS, but most companies use this term to mean something slightly hotter. For example, the Velocity Plus is a slightly hotter version of their Velocity lamp. The SunMaster Custom Plus is slightly hotter than their Custom Bronzer. This is typically the difference between 5% and 6.5%, or 6.5% to 7.5%.

Plus (slightly hotter, or higher in UVB) lamps tend to be pretty popular as many people are impatient and want quicker results. In general, the hotter lamps will tan you a little faster, get you red faster, and shorten your session times by a couple of minutes. The down side is that they also produce a tan that fades slightly quicker, so you don't get as dark with a 6.5% to 7.5% lamp as you might with a 2.6% to 5% lamp.
