ESB

ESB is a manufacturer of small tanning beds. Their main page is at www.esbtans.com. They have been around for around 17 or 18 years. Most of their tanning beds are sold by Watsons, a chain of stores in the midwest USA. They are mainly known for their 16 and 24 lamp tanning home tanning beds, although they do offer a few larger units.

Please note that I don't particularly recommend them for a home tanning bed for a variety of reasons, particularly if you find one used. They do like to make a lot of broad claims about how they are the "Number One Seller", which is far from true. (ETS would be the largest in the US, by a LARGE margin.) They also don't publish prices on their website, forcing you to call and talk with a salesman, or visit one of their dealers to get a price. This is just a bit too high pressure for my tastes.

I have also worked on a number of their tanning beds, and suffice it to say, I have been rather non-plused by the experiences. They used to use a computer card looking ballast system that is virtually impossible to find, and prone to failure. This is one reason I say to avoid them as used beds, especially if all the lamps are not working. If you can't find the ballasts (I can't) then you would have to do some serious rewiring to get the bed to work, and converted to another ballast. To swap out just a single ballast and a lamp set can set you back $600 or more. If you are lucky.

I also don't recommend buying lamps from them. Most all of their beds use size F71 lamps, but they are know for having lamp prices that are more than DOUBLE what others sell them for. Go ahead and call and compare if you want, but if you do own an ESB, you do NOT have to use their lamps to relamp you bed. They don't make their own lamps anyway, Light Sources does, and you can buy the same lamps they sell for $20-$30 from other sellers for less than $10.

If you already own an ESB, you can find replacement lamps from any reputable dealer. Please note that many of their older beds used a slightly different F71 lamp that is about 1/8th shorter than current lamps, so most F71 lamps won't fit them. Check with one of our sponsors who have lamps specifically designed for those beds , still for less than $10.
