Sun ErgolineAt one time, this was Sun Industries, Inc., the maker of Sundash, Suntana, Tansyou and other brands. They were bought out in the early 2000s by Ergoline, a German company. Ergoline is known for their Ergoline and J.K. Soltron beds. Both companies that form the now Sun Ergoline date back into the earliest days on the industry, in the early 1980s. As for lamps, the older Sundash beds used F73 lamps. The Suntana beds used two different lamp types, either F72 or F72. (if it has Crystal Sun lamps, it is F72, if it has Bellarium S lamps, it is F73). One model of the Sundash, the Platinum Series, used F74 lamps, which is an RDC style lamp with an 8.5% UVB lamp inside. These have 10 minute timers on them. Ergoline beds are a much more complex bed to peg on lamps, so you need to do your own homework on those, or call one of our sponsors. Many use a combination of 100w and 160w lamps in F71 or FR71. If you find one of the older Sundash beds on the used market, they are good beds. There are some quirks to them, as they didn't use gas springs, but instead large coil springs, but they are good quality. The acrylics for them are extra expensive, in the $250-$300 plus $100 shipping range, but they are interchangeable from top to bottom, so if the bottom has a minor crack, you can swap it for the top. In general, avoid if there are problems such as bad acrylics or ballasts (around $85 each for a ballast that powers 2 lamps) but if it is good shape, you won't be disappointed. They are average performers, about like a Montego Bay. They do have a 4 wire connection, NOT 3 wire. This is because they use a neutral wire (the white one). The beds are actually 120V inside, and they just use the two 120v circuits that make a 240v connection to split up, sending one to the top, and one to the bottom of the bed, then sharing the neutral wire. This is why they need a 30 amp circuit, only for the heavier neutral. Lots of beds still use this configuration, including Sundash, SunMaster, Tan America and others. The Suntana beds can be categorized into two basic types, the old and new (very technical, huh?) The older types were wide, commercial grade beds, while the newer types (mid 90s forward) were small, home tanning beds. In both cases, you are probably better off not purchasing them used as they are either too old or too small to fit most persons needs. Tansyou was a line of very good quality beds that they made for a very short time, but again, these would be too old to be of practical value and I would suggest not buying them used unless they were in exceptional condition. |
